Wylie East's Eno Benjamin rushes for 7 TDs, 260 yards in 71-48 bi-district win over The Colony

ARLINGTON -- Eno Benjamin had three touchdowns by the end of the first quarter, and by the end of the night the Wylie East junior had run for 260 yards and seven touchdowns.

Of all the runs and scores Benjamin had Friday night at AT&T Stadium in a 71-48 first-round playoff win over The Colony, his best one won't show up on a stat sheet. A 79-yard sprint in which he juked, ricocheted, spun and partially jogged by run's end was negated by a penalty.

That, though, was just one unfortunate break for a Wylie East team that did little wrong otherwise and often redeemed its mistakes. Jared Wyatt, who was called for the infraction, actually hauled in an 84-yard touchdown reception to make up for it on the very next play.

"It started with the offensive line, they gave me a read, and they gave me a cut back," Benjamin said. "I was just like, 'I'm getting kind of tired, so let me just go head and finish the run now instead of later."

"Well really, it's our offensive line, I go as they go," Benjamin said. "We've got great players who open up the run game for us. Our receivers they do a tremendous job of blocking."

Benjamin, who gave all the praise to his offensive line, had touchdown runs of 11, 9, 21, 1, 25, 8 and 2 yards. The Colony's Khalil Banks was neck and neck with Benjamin for a good portion of the evening, scoring touchdowns of 86, 13, 24 and 1 yard.
