Private roundup for Week 4: Prestonwood's Parker Ash throws for 510 yards, 7 TDs
PLANO — Parker Ash threw for 510 yards and seven touchdowns as Prestonwood Christian dominated the fourth quarter to beat John Paul II, 62-34, on Friday.
The teams combined for 1,074 yards of offense. Prestonwood trailed, 34-33, starting the fourth quarter, after leading 26-0, 10:11 into the game.
Zach Peters, a 6-9 basketball star turned receiver, had 17 catches for 245 yards and three touchdowns for Prestonwood, including the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Fort Worth Nolan 18, Argyle Liberty Christian 0
FORT WORTH — Daniel Walker caught a 73-yard touchdown pass and intercepted two passes to lead Nolan, ranked No. 1 in SportsDay’s large private schools area poll, to a win over Argyle Liberty Christian.
Trailing 3-0 midway through the second quarter, Liberty (2-2, 0-1 TAPPS 1-I) drove into Nolan territory. But Walker intercepted a pass on the Nolan 3. Two plays later, quarterback Joseph Prud’homme found Walker for the 73-yard score.
David Moser ran for 148 yards and the other score for Nolan (4-0, 1-0).
Nolan committed 19 penalties for 188 yards — extending several Liberty possessions. The 188 penalty yards matched Liberty’s offensive output.
Liberty was led by running back Miles Smith, who carried 22 times for 81 yards.
TCA-Addison 37, Bishop Lynch 31
TCA-Addison overcame 302 rushing yards by Bishop Lynch to win the TAPPS 1-I opener for both teams.
Daniel Davidson threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns, and Tanner Snow ran for 116 yards for TCA-Addison (3-2, 1-0). Davidson scored touchdowns on runs of 6 and 1 yards, and Snow scored on a 10-yard run.
Bishop Lynch (3-2, 0-1) was led by Chris Jordan’s 183 yards rushing on 32 carries.
Parish Episcopal 54, Gateway Charter 14
Running back Zach Shelley scored three touchdowns, two rushing and one receiving, and added a two-point conversion run to lead unbeaten Parish Episcopal (5-0) to victory over Gateway Charter (2-3).
Shelley, a junior, hauled in a 60-yard scoring pass from quarterback Jeff Davis with just four seconds left in the first quarter, darted 44 yards for a TD run with 4:59 left in the second quarter, and capped his night with a 12-yard TD scamper just 11 seconds before intermission. Shelley had also scored on a two-point conversion run on Parish’s opening drive in the first quarter after Coleton Uzelac reeled in a 30-yard TD pass from Taylor Epperson.
Epperson tossed one touchdown, caught an 11-yard TD pass from Davis, and had an interception on defense which led to Shelley’s 60-yard TD run.
Arlington Oakridge 28, Fort Worth Country Day 21
ARLINGTON — Patrick Harder’s interception with 1:40 remaining sealed Oakridge’s victory over Fort Worth Country Day.
Oakridge, which is No. 3 in SportsDay’s small private schools area rankings, improved to 4-1 overall and to 2-0 in SPC Division II. Quarterback Calvin Garrett led Oakridge with 340 yards on 23-of-40 passing.
Running back Brayden Frank scored with 2:49 remaining in the game to give Oakridge a lead it wouldn’t relinquish. Frank finished with 14 carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns.
Arlington Grace Prep 42, Burleson Centennial 38
BURLESON — Foster Sawyer threw a 62-yard touchdown pass to Myles Norwood on fourth down with 24 seconds left in the game to lift Arlington Grace Prep over Burleson Centennial.
It was the third touchdown pass of the game for Foster, who completed all three to Norwood. Burleson Centennial was led by DeMarcus Williams, who rushed for 217 yards on 22 carries and also scored a touchdown.
OKC Casady 37, Cistercian 14
IRVING — Senior quarterback Mac Katigan accounted for five touchdowns as Oklahoma City Casady rolled over Cistercian.
Katigan rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns and also completed 23 of 32 passes for 247 yards and three TDs.
Cistercian (2-3) opened the scoring following a fumble, as freshman running back Dare Odeyingbo capped a 24-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. Casady (1-4) took the kickoff and drove 65 yards in seven plays, with Katigan finishing the drive with a 15-yard run.
The teams traded second-quarter touchdowns before a 33-yard field goal by Sam Smith gave Casady a 17-14 lead with eight seconds left before halftime. Casady’s defense dominated in the second half, holding Cistercian to 28 yards and one first down.
Fort Worth Trinity Valley 42, Episcopal Dallas 6
FORT WORTH — Austin Henyon threw three touchdown passes to lead Fort Worth Trinity Valley (4-1, 1-0 SPC Division II) past Episcopal School of Dallas (1-4, 0-2).
Grapevine Faith 56, Callisburg 20
Davy Nanson rushed for a career-high 267 yards to lead Grapevine Faith (3-2) to a victory at Callisburg (0-5).
Nanson scored the first of his four touchdowns on a 1-yard run but Clay McKenzie, Callisburg’s do-it-all quarterback, scored from 14 yards out to tie the score at 7. The teams traded touchdowns until Nanson broke free for a 68-yard TD run with 1:30 left in the first half. Nanson scored on Faith’s opening drive of the second half, but McKenzie rallied Callisburg with a 28-yard TD run.
Grapevine Faith put the game away by scoring 28 points in the fourth quarter.
Colleyville Covenant 58, First Baptist 28
Junior quarterback Kade Thomas ran for two touchdowns and passed for four more to lead the Colleyville Covenant Christian (3-2) to a win over First Baptist. Junior receiver Donovan Jeanne broke the game open by scoring on two long touchdowns in the first half.
Bellaire Episcopal 52, Greenhill 7
Bellaire Episcopal improved to 4-1 with a win over Greenhill (1-4). Nick Brienzi connected with Devin Bullock for a 74-yard touchdown pass for Greenhill’s lone score.
