Cross country spotlight: Anne Jablinski, Lutheran senior
Update: Jablinski won the TAPPS 3A state championship Saturday, finishing the two-mile course in 12:37. She led for nearly the entire race.
Impressive debut: Though a senior, Jablinski didn't run cross country until this year. She played soccer and ran distance events in track, but chronic back problems kept her out of cross country until this fall.
Quite the weekend: Jablinski earned another honor last weekend: She was voted homecoming queen. Her other extracurricular activities include working on sets for the drama club, officiating and playing soccer, painting and doing two service projects each month with her church.
Healthy eater: Baby carrots are her favorite food. "I could eat carrots all day," she said.
Big dreams: Jablinski's family owns a farm, and she has agriculture plans for the future. She wants to study agriculture or medicine in college and then buy a house with land where she can train horses and accommodate interns who want to learn to train. She sees it as a way to enjoy her job and help others along the way.
Loves running because: "It brings me really close to God. It's your time alone with your head, and that's when I can let him carry me."
