J.J. Barea suffers sprained ankle in 2nd half vs. Spurs, could potentially miss time

J.J. Barea could barely put weight on his right foot after spraining his ankle in the second half of the Mavericks' 88-83 loss to San Antonio Wednesday night.

As he limped badly across the locker room from the shower to his locker, he grimaced.

Asked what part of the ankle was injured, he said: "All over. It just happened so quick. I went to turn around and it happened. I rolled it pretty good."

The Mavericks likely will have to prepare for at least some time without their spark plug off the bench, barring some miraculous recovery.

"I don't know the severity of it," coach Rick Carlisle said. "But he's in there with an ice machine on it. That's never good."
