Justin Timberlake lobbies for Memphis to join Big 12

Count singer, actor and Chandler Parsons' new best friend Justin Timberlake among those lobbying for Memphis to join the Big 12 in the latest round of conference realignment.

Memphis athletic director Tom Bowen released a statement last week shortly after the Big 12 announced it was looking at candidates for a possible expansion.

Then on Wednesday, Timberlake quoted that statement with a message supporting the Tigers' bid for a spot in a Power Five conference.

The "Can't Stop the Feeling" singer, who is a Memphis native and minority owner of the Memphis Grizzlies, has been active in the sports scene this summer. He starred in a video designed to keep Mavericks' free agent target Mike Conley in Memphis and played a role in recruiting Parsons away from Dallas to the Grizzlies.

Still, some are skeptical that Timberlake's endorsement will hold much weight with the Big 12's expansion committee.

Still, there are some positives that Memphis could bring to the Big 12. We'll just have to wait and see what the conference thinks of each candidate.
