Frisco's Ryan Cordell named Texas League's player of the week

The Texas League on Monday named outfielder Ryan Cordell, with the Texas Rangers' Frisco affiliate, as its player of the week.

Cordell, 24, was 9-for-21 with four extra-base hits and nine RBIs in the week that ended on Sunday.

For the season, Cordell is second in the Double-A league for average at .368 and leads in RBIs with 18 and slugging percentage at .702. He has started at all three outfield positions.

Cordell is the first Frisco player to receive the award this season. Frisco had six players get the award last season.
