Jack Leiter time: What to expect as Texas Rangers’ former first-round pick makes debut

Evan Grant’s weekly Rangers video sees him preview Leiter’s major league debut, discuss the wobbling Rangers offense and more.

Welcome to another episode of This Week in Rangers Baseball, Y’all!

We’re nearing the 20-game mark of the season and the Texas Rangers are ... working through some things. They’ve been mired in an offensive slump, though that didn’t burn them too badly in Wednesday’s 5-4 win over Detroit. They’re still working through some injuries as well, to both the lineup and the pitching rotation.

The latter has led them here: With pitching prospect and former first-round pick Jack Leiter set to make his major league debut against the Tigers on Thursday. It’s been a long time coming for Leiter, who’s undergone his fair share of adversity on his way to the majors and now gets a chance to show off his prized right arm.
