Baseball roundup: Hit-by-pitch gives Plano West win over Plano in tiebreaker game

Mason Gentry was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday as Plano West beat Plano, 5-4, in a tiebreaker for the No. 1 playoff seed from District 10-5A.

Plano West scored twice in the bottom of the seventh after Plano scored three runs after two were out in the top of the inning. Cody Farhat’s bases-loaded single gave Plano a short-lived 4-3 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, Aaron Draper doubled, Billy McKinney walked and Bennett Oberstein was hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs. Plano West tied the score, 4-4, when Blake Bruce reached on a ground ball.

Jesuit 12, W.T. White 2: Jesuit scored six runs in the first en route to winning a tiebreaker for the top seed from District 9-5A.

Stuart Deary had three RBIs for Jesuit (24-9-1), and Darius Hill and Grant Hatzmann each drove in two. Johnny Morin pitched a complete game for Jesuit, allowing five hits and striking out seven.

It ended a 10-game winning streak for W.T. White (22-11).
