Duncanville girls basketball team earns national honor as 'Girls Team of the Year'

The 42 straight wins earned the Duncanville girls basketball team a second straight Class 5A state title. It also extended the team's winning streak to 70 games.

It also gave reason for the Pantherettes to be named MaxPreps' 2012-13 Girls Team of the Year.

Duncanville's season started with a 52-point win and ended with a pair of blowouts at the state tournament, with few close games in between. Duncanville was one of the most dominant teams in history, and it will probably be No. 1 in the preseason state rankings again next year.

The Pantherettes return a pair of star guards, Ariel Atkins and Tasia Foman, who have orally committed to Texas.
