Former McKinney star pitcher and quarterback Zach Lee progressing in minor leagues

It's been nearly three years since former McKinney baseball and football star Zach Lee made a last-second decision to sign with the Dodgers instead of play football for LSU. Here's an update on how the former McKinney quarterback is doing.

Lee is now with the Chattanooga Lookouts, the Double-A affiliate of the Dodgers. He was the starter in yesterday's Independence Day matchup with the Jacksonville Suns, and he pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings before rain washed the game away.

Here's a shot of Lee pitching in the Lookouts' camouflage jerseys.

For the season, Lee is 7-5 with a 2.79 ERA. He has 85 strikeouts and 24 walks in 93 innings pitched.

Lee was a star pitcher and quarterback for McKinney, and he signed a latter of intent in 2010 to play football at LSU. But the Dodgers convinced Lee to sign with a $5.25 million bonus.
