Liberty: The third-place team from District 9-4A, Liberty has already surpassed the school record for wins (17, set in 2011). This is the six-year old school's first trip to the playoffs. Liberty's Robby Evans won Game 3 against Frisco Centennial in the quarterfinals, holding Centennial to four hits and one earned run. He missed Thursday's Game 1 win because of illness.

Legacy: The District 15-4A champions beat Waxahachie in the quarterfinals, in a two-game sweep. Legacy was 4-0 against 'Hachie this season, beating them twice in district play. Senior Branden Bohuslav didn't break into the varsity roster for David Walden's team until this season, but he has established himself this season as one of the team's top hitters and pitchers.
