Former McKinney softball star Ashley Thomas, now at Georgia Tech, named ACC Player of the Year

Former McKinney star Ashley Thomas has been named this year's ACC Softball Player of the Year.

Thomas, a junior, leads the league in batting average (.420), on-base percentage (.521), runs scored (56), and stolen bases (37). She is hitting .471 with an on-base percentage of .550 in conference play.

In her senior year at McKinney in 2010, Thomas was the District 9-4A Offensive Player of the Year and a member of SportsDay's All-Area team. That season, Thomas hit .554, had 10 doubles, five triples, two home runs and 25 RBIs.
