Softball: Mansfield Legacy star pitcher Kendall Potts, a Baylor pledge, returns from injury

Mansfield Legacy softball pitcher Kendall Potts returned from injury Tuesday and earned the win by pitching three scoreless innings and striking out eight in a 5-2 victory over Waxahachie.

It was originally feared that Potts, a junior who has committed to Baylor, might miss the rest of the season because of a torn ligament in her throwing wrist. Potts is 3-0 and hasn't allowed an earned run in 23 innings while striking out 44.

"She has recovered from her injury and is working to get back to 100 percent," Legacy coach Michelle Mayfield said.

Legacy, ranked ninth in the state in Class 4A, plays at third-ranked Ennis at 7 p.m. Friday. Ennis (25-2, 12-0) leads District 15-4A by one game over Legacy (23-5-1, 11-1).
