Local football players, coaches to be part of Speed to Feed contest
Local high school football coaches and players will be part of a Speed to Feed Contest on April 6 in Cedar Hill. The contest, part of a fundraiser that benefits the North Texas Food Bank, will require coaches and players to build a 7-foot structure out of canned foods.
Coaches involved include Cedar Hill's Joey McGuire, DeSoto's Claude Mathis, Duncanville's Jeff Dicus, Mansfield's Jeff Hulme and South Grand Prairie's Brent Whitson. Each coach will bring players from his team for a race to build a stable 7-foot structure made of canned foods and other non-perishable food items. The winner will receive a trophy and $250 for the football program.
The event will be on April 6 at 11:15 a.m. at Texas Trust Credit Union's Cedar Hill location at 109 W. FM 1382. There will also be bounce houses, food and family-friendly games from 10 a.m. to noon.
Texas Trust will be donating $30,000 to the North Texas Food Bank at the event.
