Jesuit 52, Richardson Berkner 29
Jesuit (3-2, 2-0) exploded for 28 first-quarter points, coasting to a win in District 8-5A.
The opening frame was highlighted by an end-around pass for a 43-yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage. Wideout Brian Wetzel connected with Jake Oliver on the play and it seemed to set the tone for Jesuit and its offense. That touchdown came after an opening onside kickoff from senior James Hairston, who had a 42-yard field goal late in the first half.
After Berkner (1-4, 0-2) scored two quick touchdowns to open the fourth quarter and pull to within 16 points, Jesuit's Mike Savage orchestrated an eight-play, 50-yard drive ending with a Savage 14-yard touchdown run. Savage ended the night 19-of-26 for 265 yards and three touchdown passes.
