Jordan Spieth planning to skip golf's return to Olympics because of Zika concern? 

After Rory McIlroy made his decision to skip the upcoming Rio Olympics because of concerns over the Zika virus, other top golfers are pondering the same decision, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Golf's authorities are bracing themselves for more high-profile withdrawals from the game's return to the Olympics in the wake of Rory McIlroy's decision to skip Rio because of concerns over the Zika virus.

Jason Day, the world No.1, was coy when asked about his participation yesterday, but it is believed the Australian could rule himself out in the next week. Jordan Spieth, the world No.2, has indicated that he is as yet undecided and the same applies to Danny Willett, the Masters champion from Sheffield.

After the Colonial a few weeks ago, Spieth talked about his excitement for the Olympics, but also expressed reservations. Now with McIlroy pulling out, he may have precedent behind him if he wants to pull out:

"I'm interested in checking out the trophy and I'm interested in keeping a very close eye on what's going on around the Olympics too, mainly off the course," Spieth said. "And trying to figure out the safety concerns and figure out plans, but as of now I'm extremely excited for it."
