Tom Fox 1. Dontre Wilson, DeSoto/ 175 carries, 1,194 yards, 24 TDs/ With quarterback Desmon White out with an injury, Wilson put DeSoto on his back against Grand Prairie. The senior – committed to Oregon – rushed for 249 yards on 15 carries, scoring four times in the 76-35 win. When Grand Prairie took a 21-18 lead less than a minute into the second quarter, Wilson once again turned on his jets to change the game, scoring three touchdowns on DeSoto’s next three drives.
Louis DeLuca 2. Kyle Hicks, Arlington Martin/ 166 carries, 1,106 yards, 22 TDs/ Hicks sat out against Arlington Sam Houston, with what coach Bob Wager called a stomach bug. Hicks, a Texas pledge, should be back to full strength this week in Martin’s biggest game thus far, a district-deciding tilt against Arlington Bowie. The loser of that game gets Southlake Carroll in the bi-district round.
Lisa Owens Photography 4. Bryan Driskell, McKinney Boyd/ 199 carries, 1,430 yards, 15 TDs/ While his team stumbled again, losing 22-20 to Plano East, it wasn’t for lack of production from Driskell. He rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns in the game. While Driskell’s numbers are great, they still pale in comparison with his 2011 season: 317 carries, 2,072 yards, 28 TDs.
Steve Hamm 5. Teriyon Gipson, Kimball/ 153 carries, 1,454 yards, 17 TDs/ Gipson had one of his best games of the season, rushing for 247 yards and three scores on just 12 carries against Seagoville. The senior has the second-most yards and touchdowns among area 4A rushers.
File Photo 6. Marquel McNac, South Garland/ South Garland lost again, the second time in as many weeks. McNac had a decent game, however, rushing for 81 yards and two touchdowns. The senior leads 5A rushers in yards and carries.
Khampha Bouaphanh 5. Daniel Gresham, Fort Worth All Saints/ 83 carries, 964 yards, 17 TDs/ Gresham, a junior committed to Texas, didn’t play in All Saints’ SPC semifinal win over Houston Christian. His replacement, Chris Lane-Floyd, filled in admirably, rushing for 133 yards and three TDs on 10 carries.
