Parish Episcopal wins an offensive slugfest

TEMPLE - BJ January and Zach Shelley combined to rush 57 times for 426 yards as Parish Episcopal held off Fort Worth Christian, 49-41, in the TAPPS Division II state championship game at Wildcat Stadium on Saturday.

The teams traded touchdowns on the first nine possessions of the first half.

The punt was partially blocked, and Parish Episcopal (13-1) took over at the Fort Worth Christian 46. Parish Episcopal marched 10 plays and went ahead, 40-27, with 6:53 remaining in the third quarter when Dallas Alderton scored on a 7-yard run.

Parish Episcopal would lead the rest of the way.

Parish Episcopal dominated time of possession and ran 76 offensive plays compared to 46 for Fort Worth Christian (11-3).
