Rowlett 35, Jesuit 28
UNIVERSITY PARK - Rowlett held off a furious fourth-quarter rally and beat Jesuit, 35-28, on Saturday in a Class 5A Division II first-round playoff game at SMU's Gerald J Ford Stadium.
After Jesuit (6-5) scored on Jake Oliver's 12-yard catch to make the score 35-28 with 57 seconds left in the game, Jesuit apparently recovered an outside kick but was flagged for an illegal block. On the ensuing onside kick, Rowlett (9-2) recovered and ran out the clock.
Rowlett will play Mesquite Horn at 9 p.m. Friday at Cowboys Stadium.
Rowlett was led by quarterback Colton Kalmus, who was 20-for-25 for 322 yards. He threw three touchdown passes.
Rowlett took a 21-14 lead by scoring on a 95-yard drive that was capped by Logan Brown's 15-yard touchdown catch with less than a minute remaining in the first half. That was the first of three consecutive touchdowns for Rowlett, which took a 35-14 lead into the fourth quarter.
Rowlett's Treyvon Green, who has orally committed to Northwestern, ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Jesuit's Oliver finished with 15 catches for 238 yards.
