Irving The Highlands 27, Frisco Legacy Christian 21
FRISCO - Running back Alex Pier scored on an 8-yard run with 40 seconds left in the game as Irving The Highlands (8-3) rallied from a 21-7 halftime deficit and defeated Frisco Legacy Christian (7-4) in the opening round of the TAPPS Division III playoffs.
Quarterback Josh De La Torre led the second-half charge for Irving The Highlands, tossing a 9-yard scoring pass to Andy McCleneghen with 7:38 left in the third quarter to narrow the deficit to 21-14. De La Torre then scored on a 7-yard run with 2:49 remaining in the third, but the extra-point kick was missed, leaving Frisco Legacy with a 21-20 lead.
A fumbled punt snap gave Irving The Highlands the ball at the Frisco Legacy 22 with 1:43 left in the game. Pier carried the ball on four consecutive plays, the last being the decisive TD run.
