Arlington Martin rallies for key win

Collin Lawrence hit a two-run, bases-loaded single to highlight a five-run bottom of the fifth as the Arlington Martin baseball team rallied to beat Weatherford, 7-4, on Tuesday.

Mike Hoffman came on in relief and earned the win for Martin (16-1-1, 6-0 District 4-5A), the No. 3 team in SportsDay’s 5A area rankings. Hoffman pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings and allowed only one hit.

Trooper Reynolds hit a three-run home run in the top of the fifth to give Weatherford (17-2-1, 3-2) a 4-2 lead.


All tied up in 8-5A

Last week, the Plano baseball team beat state-ranked Flower Mound and area-ranked Flower Mound Marcus. But on Tuesday, Plano East pounded out 11 hits and beat Plano, 6-1. That left Plano, Flower Mound, Allen and Plano East tied for first in District 8-5A at 4-2.

10-4A race heats up

Trevor Renfro and J.R. Griffin homered to lead the Richardson Pearce baseball team to a 7-6 win over Wylie, which entered the game tied with Rockwall-Heath and Rockwall for first place in District 10-4A. Rockwall improved to 5-1 in district with a 9-4 win over McKinney North, but Rockwall-Heath lost, 3-2, to Highland Park in 11 innings.



Colton Kalmus, Rowlett: Pitched a three-hitter to lead Rowlett (13-6, 4-1 District 10-5A), the No. 9 team in SportsDay’s 5A area rankings, to a 2-1 win over No. 10 McKinney Boyd. Bradley Horn drove in the winning run with a sixth-inning sacrifice fly.

Kyle Clausing, Garland Naaman Forest: Took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and finished with a two-hit shutout and nine strikeouts as District 10-5A leader Naaman Forest (10-5, 5-1) beat Garland, 6-0. Clausing also picked off four base runners.

Tejay Antone, Mansfield Legacy: The TCU signee pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out 10 in a 5-0 win vs. Duncanville.

Jake Elliott, Coppell: Threw a one-hit shutout and struck out 10 in a 10-0 win over Keller.

DJ Williams, South Grand Prairie: Went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two steals as South Grand Prairie (13-9, 4-2 District 5-5A) beat Cedar Hill, 7-5.

Dalyn Williams, Lake Dallas: Williams, a star quarterback in football, homered and had three RBIs in a 9-1 win vs. Little Elm.


68: Pitches needed by Frisco Wakeland baseball pitcher Hayden Nixon to throw a three-hit shutout in a 6-0 win vs. Frisco Liberty.

3: Triples hit by Kevin Johnson for the Bishop Lynch baseball team in a 12-7 win over TCA-Addison.
