From special contributor David McNabb:
Southlake Carroll has hired five-time state champion volleyball coach Ryan Mitchell according to SLC athletics director Kevin Ozee.
Mitchell led Lovejoy to five consecutive state championships (2008-2012, with first four in Class 3A and the last in 4A) in seven seasons after starting the program in 2006.
Mitchell, a former head coach at Irving Nimitz, has a 315-14 record at Lovejoy.
Carroll is replacing Arthur Stanfield, who resigned over philosophical differences following a 48-2 record and is first trip to the Class 5A state tournament.
