Class 4A volleyball semis: What to expect from Prosper-Dripping Springs
7 p.m. Thursday at Curtis Culwell Center
Dripping Springs (40-9)
As battle-tested as any of the 4A semifinalists, Dripping Springs faced 5A powers Coppell, Hebron and Colleyville Heritage during the tournament season. Sophomore libero Autumn Rounsaville is committed to Texas. She’s racked up 430 digs and 60 service aces. Junior defensive specialist Jade Beerman, who is committed to Northwestern, has 500 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Morgyn Greer leads the offense with 456 kills to go with 60 blocks. Dripping Springs is making just its second state tournament appearance and first since 1993. Coach Michael Kane’s squad enters the state tournament on a 10-game winning streak. Its last loss came against Cedar Park on Oct. 8.
First-year coach Erin McClanahan has engineered a remarkable turnaround at Prosper and leads the white-hot squad into its first state tournament. Prosper has eliminated ranked teams in each of its last three playoff matches, including five-set wins against Waxahachie and Frisco Centennial. Senior Meredith Bramer, a 5-8 outside hitter who signed with North Texas, leads the team with 437 kills and 48 aces, and she’s second with 609 digs. Junior middle blocker Kandyce Freeman has chipped in 264 kills and a team-high 93 blocks, and Abby Jameson has 365 kills and 21 blocks.
