Coppell, Lovejoy volleyball standouts highlight all-Texas team

Several Dallas-area volleyball players were named to’s all-Texas team Tuesday.

The team of Texas high school standouts is voted on by an anonymous group of college coaches and recruiters.

Coppell’s Chiaka Ogbogu and Lucas Lovejoy’s Ebony Nwanebu were near unanimous first-team selections. Ogbogu, a Texas commit, led Coppell to the Class 5A state title in 2011, and Nwanebu, a Southern California commit, led Lovejoy to the 3A title.

McKinney Boyd’s Megan Mollett and Rockwall-Heath’s Regina Tillis joined Ogbogu and Nwanebu on the first team. Mollett is committed to Arkansas, and Tillis pledged to LSU.

Among the second-team honorees were McKenzie Shea (Plano East), Lauren Mills (Keller Timber Creek), Ashley Mariani (Arlington), Bri Holman (Cedar Hill) and Regan McGuire (Flower Mound Marcus). also released its team rankings this week, with four Dallas-area teams in the top five. Coppell was ranked No. 1, McKinney Boyd was No. 2, Lucas Lovejoy was No. 4 and Southlake Carroll rounded out the top five.

Plano West (11), Arlington (12) and Hebron (17) also appeared in the top 20.
