Blind pole vaulter Charlotte Brown finishes fourth in UIL state meet for Emory Rains

Charlotte Brown, 16, continues to make national headlines as a blind pole vaulter.

On Friday, she competed at the UIL State Track and Field championships in Austin. While she did not medal in the top three, she did clear 11 feet in the competition, good for a tie for fourth place in her division.

Using a combination of sound cues from her coach and precisely paced steps, she guides her way to the pit where she then goes through the vaulting motions like other competitors.

Her mark to qualify for state was 11-3.
