Jesuit-Sheaner meet to be held earlier in 2015 to avoid conflict with Texas Relays
The Texas Relays meet moving to the last weekend of March won’t immediately conflict with the Jesuit-Sheaner Relays, the annual elite meet that draws most of the area’s top boys teams and several of the state’s top athletes each year to Dallas.
The Jesuit meet is the fourth Saturday every March. For the next three years, there are five Saturdays in March, meaning that the Texas Relays will fall a week after the Jesuit meet. In 2015, however, there are four Saturdays in March, which would put the meets on the same weekend.
Mike Sheaner, Jesuit-Sheaner meet director, said that would cause them to move their meet up to the third Saturday in March in 2015. The meet will also probably be on the third Saturday in March 2016.
The third Saturday in March is when the Texas Southern Relays take place. That meet typically draws many of the area’s top teams to Houston each year. But the Jesuit-Sheaner meet and Texas Southern Relays have been on the same weekend before without any problems.
