Soccer playoff roundup: Highland Park, Wakeland, Liberty girls dominate

Highland Park, the defending Class 4A girls soccer champion, rushed to a seven-goal first-half lead and rolled to a 10-1 win over Paris North Lamar in its Region II bi-district playoff opener at Royse City.

Four players scored two goals each for Highland Park (20-0-4): junior striker Abby Tisdale, senior midfielder Katie Martin, and freshman midfielders Hope Hyde and Savannah Jones.

Coach Stewart Brown said that Hyde — who has 12 goals — and Jones have exceeded his expectations, developing into key parts of Highland Park’s attack.

“We knew they were going to be good coming in, and they’ve worked hard and improved every day,” Brown said.
