Frisco Wakeland wins on 3-pointer
With his team needing a win to ensure a playoff spot, Frisco Wakeland’s Zol Singleton drilled a 3-pointer with 25 seconds left to help Wakeland nip Frisco Heritage, 67-65. Singleton scored 19 points and fellow seniors Cameron Walker (17) and Josh Harris (14) helped Wakeland (23-7, 9-5 in 9-4A) earn the district’s third seed in the playoffs. Heritage (23-11, 7-7) finished fifth in district.
Double for Lakeview
Elbert Robinson, a 6-10 junior power forward, scored 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had six blocks as Garland Lakeview (26-7, 11-1) beat Sachse, 62-50, to earn a share of the 11-5A title. Lakeview won a coin flip with co-champion Rowlett and will be the district’s top seed in the playoffs.
Hebron (10-0 in 5-5A), Richardson Berkner (14-0 in 9-5A), Plano East (10-0 in 10-5A) and Carter (14-0 in 11-4A) all won Tuesday to finish undefeated in district. Lincoln (13-0 in 12-4A) can also finish undefeated with a with over Woodrow Wilson on Wednesday.
Jeffrey Carroll, Rowlett, forward: Scored 32 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, blocked four shots and had three assists as Rowlett (25-3, 11-1 in 11-5A) beat Garland, 79-50.
Daquan Thomas, Arlington Lamar, guard: Scored 24 points as Lamar (7-20, 7-7) pulled away from Fort Worth Paschal in the fourth quarter for a 59-38 victory that clinched the final playoff berth in 3-5A.
Jalan McCloud, North Crowley, guard: Scored 28 points as North Crowley (26-8, 13-1) rolled to a 90-36 victory over Arlington to clinch the District 3-5A title. North Crowley is No. 10 in the 5A state rankings.
Bobby Word, Lancaster, guard: Scored 17 points as Lancaster (14-17, 8-6) beat Mansfield Summit, 54-49, to grab 15-4A’s final playoff spot. Summit (17-10, 9-5) also made the playoffs.
Daniel Brown, Southlake Carroll, guard: Scored 23 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had five assists as Carroll (19-13, 8-6 in 4-5A) secured a playoff spot. Brown was 11 of 15 on free throws.
Max Mueller, Lake Highlands, center: Scored 18 points as Lake Highlands (12-18, 7-7) beat W.T. White, 72-58, to pull into a tie with Skyline (14-13, 7-7) for the final playoff spot in 9-5A.
Jacoby Armstrong, Wylie, forward: Led all scorers with 21 points as Wylie (12-18, 10-4 in 13-4A) beat Wylie East, 67-48.
D’Angelo Allen, Kimball, forward: Scored 19 points as Kimball (17-9, 12-2 in 11-4A) cruised past North Dallas, 70-46. Kimball finished second in district but has won the last two 4A state titles.
20.7: Average margin of victory in District 5-5A games for Hebron (32-2, 10-0), which finished its district domination Tuesday with a 58-36 win over Denton Ryan.
30: Points scored by Mesquite Horn guard Anthony Sharp in a 47-46 victory over Mesquite (21-10, 10-2 in 12-5A). Sharp hit the winning free throw for Horn (15-13, 9-2).
