GARLAND — Breanna Homer had 23 kills and 13 digs to lead La Grange to a 20-25, 25-14, 25-19, 25-20 victory over Cleveland Tarkington in a Class 3A volleyball state semifinal Friday at the Curtis Culwell Center. La Grange (38-4), at state for the first time, will play Abilene Wylie in the final at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Jewett Leon d. Wink, 3-1: Morgan Sigford contributed a team-high 17 kills, and Brianna Sitton had a match-high 54 assists as Jewett Leon (41-4) beat Wink, 25-14, 18-25, 25-17, 25-15, in a Class A semifinal.
Round Top-Carmine d. Cayuga, 3-1: Sparked by Megan Hohlt's 26 kills and Aby Cies' 43 assists, Round Top-Carmine won a 1A semifinal, 25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 27-25. Round Top-Carmine (41-3) is one win away from its second state title in three years.
