PRESEASON ALL-AREA TEAM
Woodrow Wilson, Sr., Forward
A 6-7 power forward, Coleman was among the most productive players in Dallas last season. He gained third-team all-area honors after averaging 16 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists for Woodrow Wilson (26-4). Committed to Massachusetts, Coleman is one of two Division-I recruits -- along with senior guard Trey Washington (Wyoming) -- at Woodrow.
Kimball, Sr., Guard
The 6-5 shooting guard averaged 21.7 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.3 assists for Kimball, helping the Knights to their second consecutive 4A state title. However, a cloud of controversy still hangs over Frazier’s transfer from Irving to Kimball at the start of last season. Frazier has not committed, but has offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, SMU, Florida and others.
Richardson Berkner, Sr., Guard
Harris was a second-team all-area selection last season, after averaging 13.4 points, 5.6 assists and 5.2 rebounds for Berkner (28-7). Ranked No. 108 in the nation by Rivals.com, the 6-4 point guard committed to Southern California in August while in Los Angeles for the Adidas Nations showcase. Harris chose USC from more than 20 offers.
DeSoto, Sr., Guard
Jones has transformed himself from just another player to a Duke pledge with his incredible work ethic, DeSoto coach Chris Dyer said. “That’s the defining characteristic of all of the good ones we’ve had here,” Dyer said. “And he’s very humble, a good kid.” The 6-4 guard averaged 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds last season, shooting 54 percent from the field.
Plano Prestonwood, Sr., Forward
The expectations swirling around the 6-9 forward — courted by the nation’s top programs including Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky and Kansas — are mind-boggling. Randle is seen not only as one of the best players in the nation, but is expected to join the pantheon of all-time greats from Dallas: LaMarcus Aldridge, Chris Bosh, Larry Johnson, et al. Randle averaged 21.1 points and 9.2 rebounds last season.
