South Oak Cliff routs Adamson, 36-0, behind second-half explosion

South Oak Cliff’s explosive offense looked as if it could break a big gain on nearly every play. It just needed some time to get warmed up.

After running only three plays in the first quarter, SOC wore down a depleted Adamson team in a 36-0 District 11-4A win at Kincaide Stadium.

SOC clinched a playoff berth and kept at least a one-game advantage over Carter and Kimball.

It wasn’t a sterling performance, though. The teams combined for 165 yards in penalties.

Grinding the ball on the ground out of a Wing T, Adamson (5-3, 2-3) dominated possession in the first quarter but couldn’t manage to score. Adamson running back Keith Bryant rushed for 102 yards on 20 carries but fumbled on first-and-goal with 4:18 remaining in the first quarter. When offensive linemen Draven Taylor and Gary Trevino left the game with injuries, Adamson’s offensive success dried up.

Adamson started the game four-of-four on third-down conversions. But South Oak Cliff — which has only allowed 29 points in six games against Dallas ISD opponents — held Adamson to one third-down conversion for the rest of the game.

Devin Williams scored on a 29-yard run with 3:17 remaining before halftime for an 8-0 lead, and South Oak Cliff pulled away in the second half, scoring on four consecutive possessions.
