Week 3 3A/2A roundup: Melissa grinds out win over Farmersville
Frisco Lone Star starts fast, rolls past Van Alstyne
MELISSA — Marcus Ellis rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns, and Melissa’s defense made a couple of early stops in a 24-7 victory over Farmersville on Friday.
Ellis scored from a yard out early in the first quarter, and then the defense stymied Farmersville’s next two possessions deep in Melissa territory. Farmersville (2-2) reached the 6-yard line and then the 12 but came away empty both times.
Frisco Lone Star
FRISCO — Quarterback Will Campbell threw for 245 yards and four touchdowns in the first half as Frisco Lone Star (4-0) raced to a 35-7 halftime lead and cruised past Van Alstyne (0-3).
ARGYLE — Ian Sadler scored on a short run, a 60-yard punt return and then an 81-yard kickoff return, and Argyle (3-1) added a defensive touchdown by Reese Thompson to topple Kennedale (2-2) at Eagle Stadium.
PARIS — Nathan Elliott passed for 210 yards and a score and rushed for another as Celina (3-1) dominated Texarkana Liberty-Eylau (1-3).
Mickey Mitchell tossed a pair of touchdown passes and rushed for two as Prestonwood Christian raced past Roosevelt.
CANTON – Quarterback Chandler Eiland threw six touchdown passes as Canton defeated Carrollton Ranchview.
AUBREY — Kyle Lynn rushed for three touchdowns and passed for two, as Aubrey outscored Pilot Point.
MAYPEARL — Josh Quinn caught two touchdown passes and threw for another score as Sunnyvale (4-0) cruised past Maypearl (1-3).
QUINLAN — James Silkey rushed for 127 yards, and Quinlan-Ford amassed 317 yards on the ground and rolled over Ferris.
NEVADA — Nevada Community (2-2) scored twice in the final five minutes to defeat Caddo Mills (0-4).
