PARIS, Texas — Roman Brown scattered four hits as Texarkana Pleasant Grove defeated Farmersville, 4-0, in Game 2 to sweep the Class 3A Region II final series at Paris North Lamar.

Lucas Wacha hit a two-run triple to start a three-run first inning for Pleasant Grove (33-5), which advanced to its fifth straight state tournament.

Collin Rodgers allowed only one hit during the final four innings for Farmersville (30-9), after half of Pleasant Grove’s first 10 batters had hits.

The regional final was the deepest playoff run in school history for Farmersville.

Farmersville loaded the bases in the fifth with one out after Colton Monk’s lead-off walk and singles by Darrin Pennington and Matthew Donaldson.

But a second straight inning-ending double play stopped the scoring threat.
