SportsDayHS 2011 Offensive Player of the Year: Kenny Hill follows in footsteps of Carroll stars

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Kenny Hill, Southlake Carroll, Jr.

Southlake Carroll coach Hal Wasson, as many coaches do, likes to philosophize about the game, using buzzwords to describe intangibles he deems necessary for success. Clearly, his quarterback, Kenny Hill, fulfills these tenets.

“Whatever that ‘it’ is, he had it,” Wasson said. “You can recognize the guys that don’t have it, and you can recognize the guys that do have it.”

In his second year as Carroll’s starting quarterback, Hill, a junior, led Southlake Carroll to an undefeated season and state championship. His playoff performances seemed to get better as the rounds went on. In the state title game, he threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns.
