Arlington Grace Prep boys basketball program under investigation by TAPPS

The Arlington Grace Prep boys basketball program is under investigation by TAPPS.

Fort Worth Christian athletic director Scott Smiley, the TAPPS 1-4A president, confirmed the investigation but would not go into more detail. He declined to confirm whether the investigation is regarding recruiting violations, and he said that the matter has been turned over to TAPPS.

Grace Prep won the TAPPS 4A state championship last season, finishing the season 30-6. The team is 2-0 this season and was ranked 16th in ESPN’s preseason Powerade Fab 50.

Kris Hogan, athletic director at Grapevine Faith Christian which is in the same district, would not comment on the investigation. Officials from TAPPS, and District I-4A schools Fort Worth Southwest Christian, Grace Prep, Lubbock Trinity Christian and Pantego Christian Academy did not return phone calls and emails.
