Three third-quarter touchdowns propel Frisco to victory

Harris runs for 105 yards; QB Allen goes 8-for-8 with 2 TDs

MESQUITE — Carlos Harris rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown and Frisco took off for 21 points in the third quarter of a 56-20 Class 4A Division II area round victory over Lincoln on Saturday.

Frisco (10-2), which faces Kilgore in the regional semifinals next week, scored on its first three possessions of the second half to put what had been a close game out of reach.

Allen was a perfect 8-for-8 for 138 yards and two touchdowns before giving way to back-up quarterback Noah Montgomery in the fourth quarter.

Harris had 86 yards and a touchdown in the first half as Frisco took a 21-14 lead to the locker room.

That included five rushes for 50 yards — one of them a 19-yard scoring run — on a six-play drive that tied the score at 14 with 8:59 left in the second quarter.

Harris also made a shoetop catch of an Allen pass for a 25-yard gain and a 12-yard run to the Lincoln six that led to the go-ahead score, a six-yard touchdown run by Derek Deiter just 1:59 before the half.

Deiter’s touchdown was Frisco’s third “score” on the drive but the only one that counted.

Harris returned a Lincoln punt 50 yards for an apparent touchdown only to have it called back for holding. Then Allen connected with Fields for a 56-yard score that was wiped out by an offensive pass interference call away from the play.

Erick Neal passed for 300 yards and three touchdowns to lead Lincoln (6-6), which was its own worst enemy with five turnovers — including a fumbled punt inside its own 10 — and 11 penalties for 91 yards.
