Bishop Lynch parts ways with longtime football coach Bill Persinger

Bishop Lynch has parted ways with football coach Bill Persinger, the veteran coach confirmed Tuesday.

Persinger said the school "just wanted to go in a different direction."

"Bishop Lynch was great to me," Persinger said. "I love the kids there and I had a great run."

Persinger went 114-69-2 in 17 seasons at Bishop Lynch. His teams won four TAPPS state titles, including back-to-back championships in 2003-04.

"It's been one of the most memorable experiences of my life," he said.

Persinger said he plans to continue coaching and is in the process of applying at other schools.
