Plano West (26-0-2) vs. Katy Taylor (23-3-2)

About Plano West: The defending state champ and top-ranked team in Texas shut out No. 2 Austin Westlake, 3-0, in the Region II final. West is unbeaten in its last 37 games, a streak that dates to the 2012 season. It is outscoring playoff opponents 35-6 in the last two seasons. West's two draws this season came against Coppell and Highland Park.
About Katy Taylor: Taylor lost and drew its two regular-season games against 19-5A rival Katy Cinco Ranch, then took the third meeting, 2-1, in the Region III final. This will be Taylor's fourth appearance in the state tournament and first since 2006, when it beat Carrollton Creekview in the championship game. Senior forward Haley Silverberg has scored 31 goals, 10 during the playoffs.
SL Carroll (29-2) vs. SA Johnson (21-4-3)
When: 1 p.m. Friday
About Southlake Carroll: Senior forward Sophie Groff, a South Carolina signee, has scored 28 goals. She scored two in Carroll's 4-1 victory against Flower Mound Marcus in the Region I final. Carroll is making its fourth trip to state and first since winning the championship in 2008. Carroll hasn't lost since falling to Keller Central, 1-0, on Feb. 22.
About San Antonio Johnson: Johnson is making its second state appearance in three seasons after beating San Antonio Churchill on penalty kicks in the Region IV final. Johnson will be without starting goalkeeper Morgan Stearns. Stearns is in Carson, Calif., competing with three other keepers at the U.S. Women's Under-20 Camp. The two goals it allowed in the regional final were the only two Johnson has allowed in its last nine games. It outscored opponents 38-2 during the stretch.
Coppell (21-2) vs. Kingwood (23-1-4)
When: 4 p.m. Friday
About Coppell: Four players have scored 10 goals or more for Coppell, which is making its sixth state appearance. Forward Chris Madden leads the team with 14 goals, but he was limited in the regional tournament by a sprained ankle. Drake Lovelady, who scored the game-winner in the Region I final against Flower Mound Marcus, has 13 goals, Justin Todd has scored 11 and Mitchell Parnell has 10.
About Kingwood: Kingwood eliminated McKinney and McKinney Boyd in the Region II tournament. The program is playing in its sixth state tournament, all of which have come during coach Kevin Johnson's tenure. Kingwood's lone loss came against regional semifinalist The Woodlands, 3-1, during the regular season.
