Mark M. Hancock - Special Contributor Flower Mound, 5A Region I: Flower Mound is ranked third in the state in 5A and is 28-1-1 in its last 30 games. In the playoffs, the District 5-5A champion has averaged 9.2 runs per game and has a team batting average of .433.
Brandon Wade - Special Contributor Mansfield Timberview, 5A Region I: Mansfield Timberview is coming off a regional quarterfinal sweep of defending 5A state champion Lewisville. But sophomore pitcher Mariah Denson, an Oklahoma State pledge, suffered an ankle injury in the series opener and didn’t pitch in Game 2.
Brandon Wade - Special Contributor Richland, 5A Region I: Richland has seven seniors who have been on varsity since they were freshmen. All-state pitcher Haley Freyman is 26-6 with a 1.07 ERA and is hitting .413 for the state’s sixth-ranked 5A team. Catcher Nyka Wood is hitting .473 with five home runs and a team-best 40 RBIs.
Stewart F. House - Special Contributor Plano West, 5A Region II: Margo Beck has been walked 22 times in 34 games. That’s because she is hitting .516 with 10 home runs and 54 RBIs and has a slugging percentage of .979.

Four players have 40 or more RBIs, paced by Bailey Wallace with 45 and Jocelyn Myers with 44.
Steve Hamm - Special Contributor Ennis, 4A Region II: Ennis averaged 11.9 runs per game while going undefeated in district play, and the state’s sixth-ranked 4A team has continued that onslaught in the playoffs, averaging 9.3 runs. All-state pitcher Taylor Maliska threw a one-hit shutout in Saturday’s 4-0, series-clinching win over Texarkana Texas High.

Mesquite Poteet, 4A Region II: Mesquite Poteet has won 12 in a row and has outscored the opposition 127-30 during the winning streak. McNeese State pledge Aubree Turbeville is hitting .528 and leads the team with 52 RBIs.
