Pilot Point's Skylar Cagle named Softball Pitcher of the Year; McKinney North's Taylor McAllister Offensive POY

SKYLAR CAGLE, Pilot Point, Sr.

Notable: The Northwestern State signee was named all-state after going 28-0 with a 0.72 ERA and leading Pilot Point to the Class 2A state title. She pitched a five-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over Santa Gertrudis Academy in the state championship game. In 176 innings, Cagle struck out 259 and allowed only 78 hits and 29 walks. She also hit .617 with five home runs and 39 RBIs, and scored 52 runs.

Did you know? Cagle was selected by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as a second-team high school All-American in 2011.

Notable: The Texas signee averaged a home run every 5.7 official at-bats, 28.6 percent of her hits were home runs and 68.6 percent of her hits went for extra bases. Despite getting walked 21 times, McAllister ranked among the area leaders in batting average (.614), home runs (10) and RBIs (51). She was named the 13-4A offensive player of the year and scored 37 runs in 21 games for McKinney North.
