Softball Roundup: Marcus' Hannah Null pitches perfect game; Hebron advances to area round
Hannah Null returned after missing five games with a strained hip flexor and pitched a five-inning perfect game, leading Flower Mound Marcus to a 13-0 win over Colleyville Heritage in Game 1 of a best-of-3 Class 5A first-round softball playoff series Friday.
Null (14-1) struck out 14 of the 15 hitters she faced, including the first 11. Danielle Warne hit a grand slam.
McKinney Boyd 10, W.T. White 0: Erin Riding pitched a five-inning perfect game and struck out 13 as District 10-5A co-champion Boyd (18-12-1) won Game 1 of a best-of-3 series. Robyn Black was 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and McKenna Henry had three RBIs.
Plano West 10, Richardson Berkner 0: Margo Beck and Rachel Huskey homered as 10-5A co-champ Plano West won a one-game playoff. Marissa Butler threw a two-hitter.
Plano East 10, Richardson Pearce 0: Kate Newman hit two homers, and Ashleigh Hinshaw threw a two-hitter in a one-game playoff.
Richland 7, North Crowley 1: Haley Freyman threw a three-hitter, and Shelby Watson homered and had three RBIs as the state’s 14th-ranked 5A team won a one-gamer.
Hebron 11, Irving 0: Chelsea Herndon threw a three-hitter, and Erinn Hill and Olivia Martinez each had three hits in a one-game playoff.
Hurst L.D. Bell 4, Lewisville 0: Laura Lewis pitched a two-hit shutout in Game 1.
Rockwall-Heath 7, Garland 1: Sarah Stewart and Savannah Calhoun each had three hits in the one-game playoff.
Forney 12, Frisco Wakeland 6: Brooke McCarroll homered twice and Taylor LeFlore also homered in Game 1.
Lovejoy 16-11, Marshall 0-0: Sammi Curry was 8-for-8 with five RBIs in a two-game sweep, and Brittany Lewis was 5-for-7 with a homer and five RBIs.
Mansfield Legacy 9, Corsicana 1: Reagan Wright homered twice in Game 1.
Frisco 5, Mesquite Poteet 4: Every starter but one had a hit as Frisco won Game 1 vs. the state’s 18th-ranked 4A team.
