Softball: Plano moves up to No. 1 in state rankings, Ennis and Lovejoy remain No. 1

Plano is the new No. 1 team in the Texas Girls Coaches Association's Class 5A state rankings in softball, replacing Mansfield Legacy, which dropped to No. 6 after last week's loss to Mansfield. Plano (23-3, 10-1 District 8-5A) is ranked ahead of No. 8 Plano East (26-2, 10-1 in 8-5A), even though Plano East has won both meetings between the teams this season. Plano plays at Plano East next Tuesday.

District 7-5A leader Keller (18-5, 10-1) fell from No. 9 to No. 10 despite not losing, while Keller Central (18-4, 9-2) -- the second-place team in 7-5A -- rose from 24th to No. 7. District 6-5A leader Richland (18-6, 12-0) joined the state rankings at No. 13.

Ennis (25-2-1, 13-0 District 15-4A) remained No. 1 in the state rankings in 4A and is two spots ahead of district rival Forney (20-6-2, 11-3 in 15-4A) and three spots ahead of District 5-4A leader Birdville (23-6, 10-1). Lovejoy stayed No. 1 in the state in 3A, and defending state champion Celina is No. 4.
