Softball playoffs: Late HR gives Hebron series win over Mansfield Legacy
Jasmine Parker hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving Hebron a 6-4 victory over Mansfield Legacy in Game 3 of a best-of-3 Class 5A second-round playoff series Saturday.
Hebron (28-11-1), the No. 3 seed from District 8-5A, advanced to play 8-5A champion Plano (33-3) in the regional quarterfinals. Last season, Hebron beat Plano in a regional final to reach the state tournament for the first time. Plano, the No. 5 team in the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association national rankings, beat Hebron twice in district play this year.
Kathryn Hollingsworth was 2-for-2 with three RBIs for Hebron, and Chelsea Herndon and Cecelia Constantino each went 2-for-3. Hebron scored three runs in the third to take a 4-1 lead, but Legacy (18-14) scored one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to tie the score.

Temple 10, Sachse 3: Temple managed only two hits in Friday’s 2-0 Game 1 win but got its offense going Saturday to sweep the series.
Denton Ryan 8, El Paso Chapin 5: Sara Quintanar and pitcher Carol Raabe homered as Denton Ryan (28-8) swept its series.
Raabe’s two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the first gave Ryan a 4-2 lead, but Chapin scored twice in the second and once in the third to go ahead, 5-4. RBI singles by Glorianna Biediger and Misty Dooley in the bottom of the third gave Ryan a 6-5 advantage, and Quintanar hit a two-run homer in the sixth. Raabe earned the win and improved to 25-8.
Celina 11, Princeton 6: Taylor Norris was 3-for-3 with a double and home run, and Shelby Carter went 3-for-5 with a double, home run and three RBIs, as Celina swept its series.
Celina, the state’s eighth-ranked team, will face Anna in the regional quarterfinals. Olivia Braddock added three hits and an RBI for Celina.
