Twins team up to score only goal Plano West girls need in 5A title-game win

GEORGETOWN — For as much as the Plano West girls soccer team dominated play against Katy Seven Lakes on Saturday, it was a surprise that the Wolves only scored once. But one goal was all the Wolves needed to get to their ultimate goal: a state championship.

Brooke Ramsier scored midway through the first half, and Plano West maintained control throughout in a 1-0 victory in the Class 5A title game at Birkelbach Field.

“I’m just so proud of the girls,” Plano West coach Carley Phillips said. “They really turned it up a gear in the playoffs.”

Plano West won its fifth state title to go along with championships in 2000, ’01, ’02 and ’07. The Wolves (23-3-4) did it by dominating possession and wiping away the few threats that Seven Lakes (23-4-3) could muster.
