McKinney, McKinney Boyd, Ferris, Irving North Hills' UIL realignment appeals denied
Class 1A Division I's Brackettville Brackett was the only school granted a new district by the UIL's district assignment appeals committee on Monday in Austin.
Four area schools -- McKinney , McKinney Boyd, Ferris and Irving North Hills -- were among 11 schools whose petitions were denied.
McKinney and Boyd were placed in a new district with four of the state's largest schools: Plano East (6,015), Allen (5,388), Plano (5,314) and Plano West (4,944). Conversely, McKinney (2,121) was one of the smallest 5A schools in the new alignment.
Ferris and Irving North Hills were petitioning to join rural districts after being moved into a new district with Wilmer-Hutchins, Madison, Prime Prep and Roosevelt.
Brackettville Brackett was the only school which won its appeal (of its basketball district), but it's not the only school moving districts. Rule, a West Texas school with an enrollment number of 34, will move out of its district into another -- after getting unanimous approval from member schools from its assigned and preferred district.
