Waxahachie stays alive in playoff race, knocks off Lancaster

LANCASTER - Robert Lowe rushed 22 times for 93 yards and a score as Waxahachie scored the game's final 23 points in a District 15-4A matchup at Tiger Stadium.

Lancaster (6-2, 4-2) took over at the Waxahachie 28-yard line on its second series of the game following a 13-yard punt. Four plays later, Joseph Paden scored on a 4-yard run with 4:50 remaining in the first quarter.

Waxahachie (4-4, 3-3) answered with a 16-play, 61-yard drive and tied the game at 6 with 9:33 remaining in the second quarter when Devin Chandler scored on a 1-yard run. The key play on the drive was a roughing-the-passer penalty on Lancaster on third-and-23.

Waxahachie went ahead 13-6 with 1:01 remaining in the first half when LaDarius Brown intercepted a Lancaster pass and returned it 88 yards for the score.

Lancaster did not run an offensive play in the third quarter.

Waxahachie opened the second half with a 15-play drive and went ahead 16-6 with 3:30 remaining when Yovani Arvizu kicked a 23-yard field goal. Waxahachie recovered the ensuing kickoff at the Lancaster 39-yard line. Nine plays later, Lowe scored on a 5-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter to give Waxahachie a 23-6 lead.
