Justin Northwest football coach leaves for Sherman

Bill Patterson was unanimously approved by the school board as Sherman's new football coach. Patterson had been at Justin Northwest since 2009 and guided the program to three playoff berths in the last four years. Before arriving at Northwest, Patterson was at Garland Naaman Forest, which went two rounds deep in the state playoffs his final two seasons (2007 and 2008).

Patterson replaces Gary Joe Kinne, who resigned in January. In five seasons at Sherman, Kinne was 41-18 with four playoff appearances, but he had been placed on a two-year probation by the UIL after using school equipment in an off-season 7-on-7 competition.
