Cedar Hill wide receiver DaMarkus Lodge commits to Texas A&M

Texas A&M gained another high-profile recruit from the Dallas area Thursday as Cedar Hill wide receiver DaMarkus Lodge announced on Twitter that he has orally committed to the Aggies.

Lodge (6-2, 187) is ranked as the fifth-best wide receiver in the nation in the Class of 2015 by Rivals.com. He is No. 2 in SportsDay's area Top 100 recruiting rankings and joins Allen quarterback Kyler Murray (No. 3), Rockwall-Heath offensive lineman Trevor Elbert (No. 11), Flower Mound Marcus offensive lineman Keaton Sutherland (No. 18) and Plano East linebacker Landis Durham (No. 35) as members of the area Top 100 who have committed to Texas A&M.

Lodge had 72 catches for 1,255 yards and 22 touchdowns last season to help Cedar Hill win the Class 5A Division II state championship. He scored two touchdowns in a 34-24 win over Katy in the state title game.

"He's got good size, he's very physical, he's got great hands," Cedar Hill coach Joey McGuire said. "I think he's got some of the best body control to put himself in position to catch balls of anybody I've seen."

Lodge is the second high-profile recruit from Cedar Hill to make a commitment - and to commit to an SEC school. Quarterback Justin McMillan has committed to LSU.
