Jesuit quarterback Bo Schneider commits to Central Florida

Jesuit quarterback Bo Schneider orally committed to Central Florida on Tuesday and said he chose UCF over Oregon State and Tulsa. Schneider is No. 62 in SportsDay's Area Top 100 recruiting rankings.

Schneider said the success of quarterback Blake Bortles played a role in his decision. Bortles was picked third in the NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars after throwing for 3,581 yards and 25 touchdowns and leading UCF to a 12-1 record and win over Baylor in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

"It proves that coming from a smaller conference, you can still make it to the next level," Schneider said. But he added that if you took Bortles out of the picture, "UCF was still a perfect fit."

Schneider (6-4, 215) said Central Florida didn't get involved in his recruitment until 10 days ago, then came to watch him throw at Jesuit and he visited the American Athletic Conference school last week. He said UCF runs a similar offense to Jesuit, where he threw for 3,185 yards and 31 touchdowns as a junior.
