Episcopal School of Dallas tops Jesuit, Keller beats Flower Mound to claim state lacrosse titles

FRIENDSWOOD — Episcopal School of Dallas and Keller claimed state championships at Sunday’s Texas High School Lacrosse League boys finals at Friendswood High School.

ESD scored three goals in a 90-second span of the fourth quarter to secure a 9-4 win over Jesuit in the Division I championship game.

Jesuit had cut ESD’s lead to 5-4 at the outset of the fourth quarter before ESD went on the offensive.

Will Stroud began the Eagles’ run with a goal at the 6:14 mark. Richie Loftus and Jack Beare added scored as ESD jumped to an 8-4 advantage with 4:38 remaining.

Sam Romano, who was named the tournament’s most valuable player, added his second goal of the game with 32 seconds left.

Keller earned its first Division II state crown with a 13-10 win over defending champion Flower Mound.

Down 7-6 at halftime, Keller began the third quarter with five consecutive goals.

Dalton Skelly and and tournament MVP Bevan Pate each had a pair of goals as Keller opened an 11-7 advantage. Each finished with three goals.
